- Enlarged lips, longer neck, lower eyes, enlarged eyes, better hair,.
- It's not ethically correct because the ad is making people think that pretty girls are supposed to look like that when really the model doesn't even look like that.
- Yes, they could say that they're product turns someone from how the model originally looked too how she looks in the photo.
- The types of changes that are okay are the changes to her hair but other than that nothing really because they are changing almost all of her facial features.
- Fashion photography make people look better than they really are and photojournalism shows people the way they are.
- Fashion photography completely alters reality because it's changes someones whole look. Photojournalism actually represents reality by showing things that are real and how they really are.

FASHION
Lytro warm-up
- The photo focused on the area I clicked on.
- It let's you refocus the picture to see it from a different perspective.
- The photographer would have to know about the right amount of lighting to use and would also need to know how close or far away to get from the subject.
- To me personally, it's not. But, from a photographers point of view I can see where it would be because people take lots of pictures to get the focus right but with this camera you don't have to worry about it.

Self Portrait and Portraits Part II
- Get closer.
- Use a tripod. Seriously. While it’s possible to get good photos while you’re hanging on to your camera at arms-length, it’s a lot easier if you’ve got the freedom to move around a bit.
- Use props!

| I liked this photo because it's baseball related. I picked this picture because it's kind of what I had in mind for self portraits. |
![]() |
| I liked this picture because I like how the catcher is in focus and the fans are blurred out. I picked this photo because I play catcher and I like the way this picture was taken. |
![]() |
| I liked this photo because I think it's cool he used the sun to make his body look black. I picked this photo because the kid had a bat in his hand. |
![]() |
| I like this photo because the guy is on the field with two bats in his hand in full uniform and eye black. I picked this photo because it caught my eye when I searched self portrait on google. |
![]() |
| I liked this photo because it shows Jim Bibby holding eight baseballs in one hand. I picked this photo because when I saw the eight balls in one hand I thought it was crazy. |
![]() |
| I liked this photo because it shows the player laid back and chill and you don't normally see players like that. I picked this photo because Eric Byrnes is a great player. |
For my portrait, I will be taking a self-portrait on the baseball field and to make this shot successful I will use my gear as props in the photo and be sure to place the tripod close to me to make it clear I am the subject. I will also try and incorporate rules of photography into the photos I take.

American Soldier slide show and captions
- A. This image is the most powerful on because it shows the bond that Ian and his brothers had. It shows how sad they were that Ian was leaving and how much they were going to miss him.
B. Set #1 At home in Denver - #1-#9
Set #2 At Basic Training - #10 - #30
Set #3 At In Iraq - #51 - #70
Set #4 Back in Denver - #71 - 83
Set #2 was the most powerful because it showed how he came from being a kid to a soldier. It shows how hard he worked and also what he went through to finally become what he wanted to be.
C. The photos work together to tell a story by chronologically showing what he went through during his experience. The photos show all of the peoples emotions and how Ian going to the army really effected everybody.
3.
A. Present Tense.
B. The captions let you know exactly what;s happening. They also give you dialogue so you know what was being said during the time the photo was taken. This helps really understand what you're looking at.
4.
A.
Image 1
Ian thinks about his decision to join the Army after having second thoughts the day before his graduation in his living room.
Image 2
Ian looks over his diploma to make sure he has everything he needs while departing from his graduation ceremony after graduating.
Image 5
Ian sits with his dad while waiting to leave to go to training in their living room hours before Ian leaves.
5. A. The videos enhance the photos by letting you know how it looked while the photo was going on but in real time.
B. Videos are better than photos in the way that you can see exactly what the people were doing at that point in time.
C. Photos are better than videos in the way that they capture just one particular moment and you get much better quality of the still point in time.

SimCam
- F4 looks best at 1/125th of a second shutter speed. The background is not clear but you can still see the windows.
- F5.6 looks best at 1/60th of a second. The background still isn't very clear but you are able to see the color of the walls and some of the background.
- F8 looks best at 1/60th of a second. The background is somewhat clear because you can tell that it's a building behind them.
- F11 looks best at 1/60th of a second. Background is clear to a point where its just a background while the couple is the main subject.
- F16 looks best at 1/30th of a second. The background looks good at this aperture because you can mostly see it but the couple still sticks out.
- F22 looks best at 1/15th of a second. The background is very visible at clear with this aperture, you can see exactly what's behind the people.
The people are getting more blurry as the shutter speed gets slower. To combat this you can match the ISO or aperture with the shutter speed. The slowest aperture speed the photographer can hand hold is 1/15th of a second.
ISO

| ISO 200 |

| ISO 3200 |
- You can take advantage of higher ISO during a sports game at night because the higher the ISO, the more sensitive it is toward lights.
- Using low ISO is best when you want to retain the best quality of a picture, when there's good lightning.
- ISO should be increased when there is not enough lightning to be able to quickly capture an image.

Auto mode automatically sets the shutter. Shutter Priority and Manual let you set the shutter manually but for Shutter Priority, the aperture is on auto mode.

Great Black and White Photographers PART 3
- I really liked how he used cool effects to make the photos look 3d. I think the effect he uses on most photos is really cool because it always looks like there is more than one of the subject. I also like how there is different angles of the one subject in one photo.
- I see an old man with a mustache and glasses wearing a collar shirt with a tie. I smell the old mans scent, he smells like coffee and old people. I here the sound of the camera capturing the image and the sound of my own voice saying "1, 2, 3". I taste the eggs and toast I had for breakfast. I feel the smoothness of the plastic mouse and the keys on the keyboard as I scroll and type.
- I would like to do a poster of my photographer. It'd be cool to put a bunch of pictures on a poster and explain what he did to make those photos. Also, to give people information on my photographer that I find interesting.

Academic Shoot Reflection
- One of the main problems I had was trying to get the rules with all the people moving around. I would have the shot and then someone would move or come in front of me.
- I was mostly thinking about the focusing aspect. To do this correctly, I adjusted the zoom, and how close I was getting to the subject.
- I would take my time a lot more. I was rushing to do the assignment and so my pictures didn't come out as good as I wanted them to.
- I would go into the same class because they were up and doing interesting things, rather than just sitting at a desk.
- Rule of thirds because it's easy to just choose which position to take the subject in.
- Balance because I'm still not very clear on exactly what balance is.
- I'm not clear on balance still. I can research what it means and look at some pictures of balance and also pictures without it.
Academic Shoot
| Lines |
- I followed the rule alright because I didn't show how the line on the bottom lead up to the blue bar on the top as much as I wanted.
- The subject is the blue object on the top.
- It's pretty clear to people what the subject is.
- I could've gotten lower to shoe the lines leading up to the object.
| Simplicity |
- I followed the rule well because I go a very simple background and only captured the subject for the most part.
- The subject is the guy doing his work.
- It's clear to people that the guy doing work is the subject.
- I could've maybe gotten closer just so I wouldn't get the window in the back. Or moved the camera to the left a little.
| Rule Of Thirds |
- I followed the rule well using the lower right position.
- The subject is the meat inside of the foil.
- It's pretty clear what the subject is except that you can't see the meat very well.
- I could've changed the angle slightly to capture the meat better.
| Balance |
- I followed the pretty well because in the picture it looks like both kids are leaning opposite directions so they are balanced.
- The subject is the doing their work.
- It's pretty clear because the kids are who I focused on most.
- I could've gotten lower to show them at the same height too for a more balanced effect.
| Framing |
- I followed the rule alright by using the pan as the frame of the bacon.
- The subject is the bacon frying in the pan.
- It's clear what the subject is.
- I could've changed my angle so the pan framed the bacon better.
| Avoiding Mergers |
- I followed the rule pretty well.
- The subject is the guys cooking the bacon.
- It's not very clear what the subject is.
- I could've gotten closer the the subject to make it more clear.

Mural Project preview
- I think it would be a cool to do a theme of all different types of shoes people have on at school. I see so many unique and cool shoes people have on everyday.
- I think we should use the cameras. Just because for one, not everybody has a phone. And two, because the cameras just take a lot better pictures.
- I would want to put it up on a wall where almost every body almost has to look at everyday. Like one of those walls that are hanging down in between halls.
Africa and Mural Project preview
- I thought the power point was amazing. I loved all the really cool photos of the animals and it's just amazing how close and how good of photos the photographer got of all the wildlife in Africa.
3. This photo is my favorite because to me, It's the coolest one. Just the way that it captured the awesome background while also getting the lion staring out into it is just amazing.
4. Rule of thirds: The lion is in the lower right positions of the picture.
Lines: The lines created from the sun coming through the horizon lead to the lion looking out on the horizon.
5.
(a) He uses a Pentax 67II with only two fixed lenses.
(b) He didn't want just documentary or action/drama filled pictures. He just wanted to simply show the animals in the state of Being before they weren't any more.
(c) To record a visually poetic last testament to the wild animals and places there before they are gone
(d) "The photos are my elegy to these beautiful creatures, to this wrenchingly beautiful world that is steadily, tragically vanishing before our eyes."

Academics & Community Service
My favorite photo was the photo of the kid mixing chemicals.
- I picked this photo because it looks cool how he's mixing the chemicals and they're making another color.
- Balance, simplicity, and avoiding mergers.

Filling the Frame
The frame is filled because the people around the table are filling out the frame and what they are doing on the table.
Action and Emotion
The action is the liquid and bubbles are all in the air and everywhere. The emotion is the girl's face.
The Story
It tells a story because it's showing kids kind of like praying around a flag. I think the story is that people are remembering 9/11 and are praying around the american flag.

Post Shoot Reflection
- The only real challenges I had when shooting the first three prompts, was trying to find things that were happy. There is a lot of red and metal things around school, but for some reason not a lot of happy things.
- I was thinking mostly about the focus of the picture. I was trying to make sure I mostly only got what I was trying to shoot in the photo. To do this, I had to adjust how far away I was from the subject and the zoom of the lens.
- I would try and incorporate the simple background more because some of my backgrounds kind of distracted the eye from the subject.
- I would shoot the same things as I did before because I really like some of the pictures I took.
- In the first 3 prompts I actually ended up achieving the rule of thirds and the simplicity rules.
- Im not really interested in shooting this again because I want to shoot new things.

Avoiding Mergers
In this photo, the photographer had trouble avoiding the merger of the water and the fireman. It looks as if the water were spraying out of the firmans head.
Balance
In this photo, there is many geometric shapes that help the photos composition. Like, for example, the triangle created from the smoke and the explosion coming from the towers.
Lines
In this photo, the lines created by the smoke coming from the tower lead to the people hanging out of the windows. They also help you see where the people are.
The Rule of Thirds
The upper right position is great for this photo because you can see the whole in the tower and, you can see all the smoke produced from it.
Simplicity
In this photo, the simple background helps focus more on the man falling and doesn't distract you from the subject.

Unusual and interesting photos Part 3
- Connection with your subject.
- Good lighting.
- Look for both big and quiet moments.
- I think the photographer displayed the suggestions pretty much fully besides maybe the lighting.
- Juxtaposition because I just really like surprises and this style of painting is perfect for that.
